High-Quality Materials

Our flags are available in several materials, ensuring durability and vibrant colors:

  • Nylon: Ideal for outdoor display, our heavy-duty commercial-grade nylon is durable and quick-drying, with embroidered stars and sewn stripes. Typical lifespan is 8-10 months.
  • Extra Tough: Perfect for high wind areas, made from 2-ply polyester bunting with an open weave to reduce wind resistance. Expected lifespan is 10-12 months.
  • Ultra Tough: Featuring reinforced stitching and a heavier design, these flags are built for the longest lifespan, requiring 12 mph winds to fully furl. Typical lifespan is longer than other materials.
  • Cotton: Decorative and vibrant, these flags are best for indoor use or special occasions. Not recommended for extended outdoor use due to weather sensitivity.
  • RePatriot (Recycled Material): Made from recycled PET bottles, this material is durable and long-lasting, with color steadfastness surpassing nylon by 40%.

History of the American Flag

Known as the Stars and Stripes, Old Glory, and the Star-Spangled Banner, the American Flag features 50 stars symbolizing the states of the USA and 13 stripes representing the original colonies. The blue field stands for vigilance, perseverance, and justice, while the red signifies valor and the white symbolizes purity and innocence. The nickname "Old Glory" was originally given to a specific flag by sea captain William Driver in 1831.

On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress adopted the Flag Resolution, specifying the design of the flag. The first battle use was at Fort Schuyler in 1777, where soldiers created a flag from their clothing. Various claims exist about the flag's original designer, including Betsy Ross, Rebecca Young, and Francis Hopkinson, who was the only one to claim the design during his lifetime.

The current design, with 50 stars, was created by high school student Bob Heft in 1958 and officially adopted in 1960 after Alaska and Hawaii became states.
